    Hey everyone,
As usual YouTube are being a pain and have demonetised this video, why? I have no idea. Luckily when this happens I have the Patrons in my corner. It'd be great if you considered support the channel on Patreon to help when dumb stuff like this happens. https://www.patreon.com/nameexplain

I'll forgive it because you're not American but kind of absent to not mention why they wanted independence. It was because Mexico outlawed slavery but Texas wanted it and retains it to this day through the prison system.

Major General Major General Samuel Holden Parsons commander of the Texas State 19th Cavalry Regiment sent reinforcements to aid Florida . Texas & Florida both shared the fact that were there own country a separate independent State. So the Bonnie Blue Flag that was given as a gift was sown into the Design of the Texas State Flag it represents the trail of tears moaring the loss of the troops who died .

Texas was also once called New Philippines as well when Spain was in control of it. When Spain gave Mexico it's independence Mexico renamed it to Texas. If you don't believe me you can. Search it online. Just wanted to share a bit of history that doesn't normally get mentioned often in history books..

How can you tell this story without mentioning that the issue between Mexico and Texas was illegal immigration on part of the Americans !!!
The Americans were slaveholders who wanted to bring slavery into slave free Mexico.
So they violently stole Texas ( with the support of the rest of the US) and almost a
    third of the Mexico's territory.
    It's called the Mexican-American war.

  • @darthxerxes5468

I haven't watched your explanation for our state name yet but this is the true answer
Texas is derived from Comanche Tejas which means comrade or ally

Gotta love how half the comments are from salty descendants of Tejanos trying to rewrite history to make Santa Anna not look like a terrible dictator. They think they can throw up the whole "you just wanted to keep your slaves!" non-retort and pretend it qualifies as an argument, but it really doesn't. Try harder, putos.
