You that ran away,…hiding, or sitting pretty in Texas. There are still Conservatives still fighting on the Western Front (California) that are still holding the line against overwhelming odds despite the outcomes. We fight harder and dig deeper to curtail the Tsunami.

This is not overstated but I would also say the few things I have noticed as a out of state visitor. Clean and well maintained roads, for Christians a church on basically every corner, the most diverse restaurant options, very helpful people, despite the Hollywood bias most residents don't wear stetson's except in Fort Worth. There is more but it is best to visit the state.

im a young person that wants to leave the state I live in but don’t know if I should take the risk to move to Texas or live in Boston since it’s close, but sure if I do move to Texas, I will miss the New England area

My Aunt destiny is from Texas and she is amazing she does love to talk, she will talk your buns off. When it comes to football, she says, you can mock me, steal from me, call me names, that's ok, but don't touch my football games. I have to have my football games. So, yeah she asked me when we visit my other aunt can we go to a rodeo? They are amazing. So, and let's not forget the spicy foods. they are big on jalapenos and tabasco sauce. But she is a good person! Love her culture, and her mannerisms, they are big on yes sir, no sir, Darlin, sweetheart hold the door amazing people Texans are!
im Texan, transplant to Chicago IL mid July 2009 and i ty so vm complimenting Texas so much. we good Texans cares yes, we friendly, we bbq, music dancing you wont go hungry. even if we dk you and yes we r about sports esp football. Im proud to say one of my school mates was nfl years ago and now a close friend son going mlb and i love rodeos

My entire family of 9 picked up and moved from California to NW Texas within the last two years. Unfortunately, the scammers in Texas are problematic due to a lack of civilian protection and so my parents were ripped off while purchasing a home and abused as elders (Lawsuit pending). But we all left for the same reasons: Bad politics, fires due to those bad policies, dictatorship from Newsom, Crime due to borders, and bad legal practices. My sister also moved to Texas with her children to get them a better education. I am also a 20-year career tech super freak, now retired. I find most of the people pleasant but some of the scamming should stop.

I moved to Texas but moved back after 3 months because my Midwestern brain couldn't handle the south.
I lived in Arizona for two years ( because of my job). Arizona has a State Income tax. State Income tax is deductible on your Federal Tax return. It's a wash.
What Texas does have is very high Property Taxes.
You think homes prices in Texas are a bargain, until you receive your Property Tax Statement.
I like Texas, I'm conservative, I'm friendly, but I can't stand any sports or tailgating. Never enjoyed it. Pure waste of time.
Taxes in Texas are not low but they are not particularly high either. Lack of income tax does not mean it is necessarily low. A lot of population growth is mostly from migrants from Mexico so it is not just Californians and New Yorkers moving to Texas to escape their population squeezes in LA and NYC. Since there is a job market, they gravitate toward Texas. The economic growth and the room for development is what attracts people to the state. The economy in Texas is fairly diverse. Most of the areas of growth is the Texas Triangle of Austin-San Antonio, Houston-Galveston, and Dallas-Forth Worth areas. Western Texas has a economic oasis with the oil fields in Odessa, and Midland, but most of Texas is headed toward the Texas Triangle. El Paso is also growing. As for housing affordability, well relative to local wages, Texas is not insulated from the rest of the country. Geography, access to cheap labor (undocumented workers), and institutions makes Texas attractive compared to certain other states. What is underpinning this is the energy sector, agriculture, and deep water ports. Texas is a leading export economy within the US. The Texas oil boom undeniably started the growth trend found when a major source of oil was found at Spindletop in 1901. It utterly transformed Texas.
