Less Crowded Texas Hill Country Towns, Llano

Less Crowded Texas Hill Country Towns, Llano

It can often be frustrating to visit the more popular Hill Country towns like Fredericksburg and Gruene. Those towns are often very crowded and it can be difficult to find a room. Today I present a town that’s usually less crowded and yet still lies in a prime location to visit the many scenic places in this region. In addition, it has some of the best beef brisket in Texas.

Sorry for butchering the Town's name. It's probably my biggest mistake in this channel so far. I would probably take the video down, but it's getting a lot of views. Texas has many names with odd pronunciations that will trip up most people not familiar with it. I've been pronouncing the name like this for years ever since I first saw it on a geologic map, but no one ever corrected me on it. Lesson learned.

Thanks for the review. Had family all over the Hill county, not so many-now. But still visit when get chance. Was in Llano in 2020, ate at Coopers, camped at Lake Buchanan. Plan to be back this summer to reminisce and camp.

You know, since finding your videos this Texas girl has seen more and learned more about my birth state than I ever learned in school. I appreciate being able to go kayaking, hiking and generally tagging along via videos. At my age some of these things are a bit beyond my capabilities so I just wanted to say thank you and I hope you continue to travel and hope you continue to share those travels with us. Thank You

Oh no, just came across your channel please don’t get discouraged on your videos! Who cares if you pronounce it wrong, you spelt it correctly and show location and I’m a Native Texan. This is an educational video that not many have done on little towns of Texas!

Been to Llano many times and knew the history. But not all the geology you pointed out. Thank you. Next time I go, I’ll be looking more towards the geology. Have you done Mason yet? And don’t worry about the pronunciation. You ask 5 Texans and you’ll get 5 different versions.

Loved working in the hill country for five months years ago. When they assigned "Old Yeller" in school, people could find familiar places. The job wasn't long, but I still have FB friends from there. I even got lost in Llano once!

If your thinking about going there I would advise you watch some videos about their police department and the Llano county's sheriff's department. They are not nice people.

I grew up in Llano from the mid 70's to mid 80's and stayed in the Dabb's Hotel in the 90's when it was a B&B…I often go to the used book store close to the bridge….I had walked on the river when it froze in the 80's many fun adventures there!!! Even Stayed many times in the ole Llano Motel as a teen! Old timers will know what I mean!!!

It's pronounced Yan-no. It was named by the Spanish. Folks had a hard time rolling their tongues to pronounce it. So they just started say lan-o. But to each their own.

All I want to know is if people can breathe free in Llano and not be forced to wear a mask to work, live, play, and go to school? Is there anywhere in Texas like that?

The earth is almost 6000 yrs old. The whole world will see that truth very soon. I love rocks. When I look at rocks it makes me think of how they were here at creation.

I hunted the hill country for years. Lan-o was pretty much a small ranch town . Others like Fredericksburg had many more historic buildings keep well maintained . In 70's it mostly boarded up but very clean .The Nimitz hotel was very nice even then. Old well maintained buildings pretty much in seems key to future tourist towns. Many in Texas.

Hunting? So many hunters, does that mean the area is surrounded by N.P. BLM, or Texas state public Land?
