I've just found out that one of my favorite songs, "entre a serpente e a estrela" from a Brazilian singer called Zé ramalho, is not his completely, but it's just a different lyrics version of Amarillo by morning! Ohhhh my… in Brazil People say "nada se cria, tudo se copia" which means "nothing is created, everything is copied"…
One of, if not THE most beautiful songs in country music, dedicated to one of if not the ugliest cities in the US. I can say that because I live In amarillo
One of my favorite country songs and singers growing up in the early 80's in Lubbock. Old country music bring back a lot of memories when we were in Jr high school. My brothers and I would peddle our bikes on interstate 27 north out of town towards the international airport and Amarillo almost every morning at 7am during the summer breaks. At the time, the interstate was fairly new and had hardly any traffic and we would be horsing around on it. We kept pushing the limit on how far we could bike but had to turn back by late morning when we ran out of steam.
A year ago I saw life crumbling down around me it had been a very hard life I loved music it was one of 2 things that made me feel close to my late father that amd guns many of which I'd inherited from him one night it all got to be too much I'd drank about the last of my jar of shine I turned this song on tucked a 12 quage with one 00 buck under my jaw and told myself Amarillos where I'll be thought of my dad and feeling okay again and let it rip I hit the ground immediately but mever lost consciousness walked outside blind with blood in my eyes lower half of my face gone needless to say life's gotten worse since then with no where left to go no money and my old lady hating my guys now more than ever I still listen to this song on my last days in this apartment with her where I go from here I don't know I know it won't be nothin like Amarillo but now this song gives me hope and at least I got that

Awesome song, coming from a dude in a blood red cannibal corpse shirt. One of my fav country songs ever. Sends me with a angry Texas sense of pride, even though I'm from Minnesota lol
You know George, you, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Merle Haggard, Rex Allen Jr., Jimmy Buffet and Johnny Lee, you guys are The Living Legend in my humble opinion..
